Crete-Monee has had a tremendous season, and as it gears up to play Cary-Grove in the IHSA Class 6A state title game, star wide receiver Laquon Treadwell has narrowed down his list of potential suitors.

In order, Treadwell lists Oklahoma at the top, followed by Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Michigan and Michigan State.

“Oklahoma is on top because their coaches have been on me a lot,” Treadwell said. “Also I have heard from the Ole Miss coaching staff a lot, I like both coaches and I think they are going to feed the ball to their receivers.”

The potential to make a difference on the field is important to Treadwell.

“You have to look at it as the class coming in and where we are going to help them at,” Treadwell said. “For example, Michigan also has a great team. They just need some help at the receiver spot, so you just have to look at it as what the class coming in with you can help with.”

Garrett on Wisconsin

Top junior linebacker Clifton Garrett of Plainfield South took a visit to Wisconsin Saturday.

“I watched the linebackers on the game field, they are quick and can move,” Garrett said. “I was pretty impressed and the atmosphere was ridiculous.”

Garrett, who has an offer from Wisconsin, also had some time to chat with the coaches about their interest in him.

“The first thing the coaches said to me, was ‘Wow you look good,’ ’’ Garrett said. “When I was talking to the linebackers coach, he told me I looked really good and ready to go. He wants me on their campus.”

Next up for Garrett is a trip Columbus to watch Ohio State take on Michigan.

Bunting adds SEC offer

Junior Hinsdale Central tight end Ian Bunting received his first SEC offer on a weekend visit to Vanderbilt.

“Right before they were going into the locker room, coach James Franklin ran over to my mom and myself,” Bunting said.“And he said now that they had seen me in person, they said they were going to offer me a full scholarship.”

Overall, Bunting graded the visit high.

“Definitely an A, I loved it,” Bunting said. “It is definitely one of my top schools, and it is a really good combination of athletics and academics, which I am interested in.”
