Jack’s back

Notre Dame-bound forward Jack Cooley of Glenbrook South has been cleared to play in tonight’s MSL crossover game against Maine East at Glenview.

The 6-foot- 9 Cooley, who is averaging 23 points per game, was given the OK to play after a doctor’s appointment Monday morning. Cooley had ligament surgery on his left thumb on Jan. 15 after injuring the finger at Fenton’s Mitchell Thanksgiving tournament.

The Titans (13-11) have lost four consecutive games and went 2-6 without Cooley entering Senior NIght against the Demons (18-7).

“He will start, but will play somewhat limited minutes,” GBS coach Scott Nemecek said. “He’ll play, but we’ll sub for him a couple of minutes.”

Cooley scored a season high 32 points in a 70-64 loss to South Elgin at Fenton Nov. 25.

GBS will end the regular season at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in a nonconferecnce game against Prospect (18-6) at the United Center. Nemecek has already decided to spread playing time around in that game.

The seventh-seeded Titans open the Class 4A playoffs against ninth-seeded St. Viator at 7:30 p.m. March 4 in the Elk Grove Regional.
