OPRF seniors have All-Star dates looming

A pair of seniors from Oak Park-River Forest will compete in area All-Star Games in the next few weeks.

Center Virgil Allen is expected to participate in the Nike City-Suburban All-Star Game at 6 p.m. Friday at Simeon in Chicago

Guard Alex Gustafson was selected to play in the Hoops Classic West Side-South Side Game at 2 p.m. May 4 at the University of Chicago. Former OPRF stars Ka’Darryl Bell, a Bradley freshman, and 6-foot-7 Gabe Levin played in the same game last year.

Levin, who played last season for a prep school, has decommitted from Hofstra after making a commitment to the New York school March 14. Levin’s commitment came eight days before Hofstra coach Mo Cassara was fired. Hofstra hired a new coach April 10.

The OPRF basketball Facebook page lists several possibilities for Levin, including NCAA runner-up Michigan.
