Dundee-Crown graduate Elliot Soto was drafted Tuesday by the Chicago Cubs in the 15th round of the amateur draft.

Soto just finished his junior season at Creighton, where he batted .297 and had an on-base percentage of .388. The 5-9 shortstop made only six errors.

After helping the Chargers to the state tournament as a senior in 2007, Soto, a sensation since a freshman on varsity, was picked by the Twins in the 13th round. But the Algonquin native opted to go to college. He fell 38 spots with college seasons.

Cubs GM Jim Hendry is a former head coach at Creighton.
