THE SKINNY

New Trier’s girls basketball team used a 21-point second quarter to beat Mother McAuley 47-43 in the second semi-final of the 31st Annual Charger Classic at Dundee-Crown High School. Both teams went on double-digit scoring streaks in a game that featured three ties and three lead changes.

TURNING POINT

With 4:20 left in the game, the Mighty Macs completed a 10-0 run to get within one of New Trier. The Trevians responded with a 6-0 run of their own over the next minute to open the lead again. While the Mighty Macs came back to within two, the Trevians held onto the lead and came away with the win.

THE STAR

New Trier sophomore forward Jeanne Boehm finished with a game-high 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting and one free throw. Boehm added six blocks on the night. Junior forward Erin Drynan was the star for the Mighty Macs, scoring a team-high 11 points and adding two blocks. She was the only Mighty Mac to not turn the ball over during the game.

 

BY THE NUMBERS

The Mighty Macs turned the ball over 19 times compared to 13 for the Trevians. New Trier was able to come away with the win despite going 2-for-14 from beyond the arc. Mother McAuley was 6-of-18 in three point shooting. New Trier stole the ball 10 times from Mother McAuley, who failed to steal it once from New Trier.
