The latest gubernatorial campaign ad hitting the airwaves today praises Gov. Pat Quinn for recovery efforts following a devastating tornado in Washington, Illinois, last year.
Included in the ad is testimony from Mayor Gary Manier, a Republican, who praises Quinn’s “love” and “respect” for Central Illinois.
Quinn, a Democrat, is in a fierce battle for re-election against Republican Bruce Rauner.
Here’s the transcript:
Mayor Gary Manier: I’m the Republican mayor for the city of Washington; 1,108 homes were devastated or destroyed.”
Gov. Quinn: ”When natural disasters occur, we come together for the common good.”
Manier: ”I cannot say enough, the love for central Illinois that Gov. Quinn has and the respect that we all have for him. State government under Pat Quinn’s leadership has helped us recover from this. I can’t imagine anyone else being in that seat during our devastation. He is the right guy for the job and the right guy for Illinois.”
