A man and a teenage girl were hurt in a shooting Thursday afternoon in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side.

The shooting happened in the 6300 block of South Cottage Grove a few minutes after 1 p.m., Chicago Police said.

A group walked up to a 21-year-old man and someone opened fire, police said. He was shot in the back and taken to Stroger Hospital.

A 14-year-old girl was shot in the arm and taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, police said. Their conditions had stabilized.

A police source said the man who was shot is affiliated with a gang, and it appears the girl may not have been the intended target.
