No one was hurt during a fire at a church early Monday in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The blaze began at the Hyde Park A.M.E. Church in the 12000 block of South Eggleston about 3 a.m., Chicago Fire Department spokesman Juan Hernandez said.

The fire in the single-story building was extinguished nearly an hour later, at 3:49 a.m., Hernandez said.

The roof of the church collapsed, but it appears no one was inside at the time, Hernandez said.
