Police are investigating an increase in Logan Square burglaries, and have received reports about four break-ins since mid-December.

In each case the burglar or burglars go in through a rear door or rear window, Area North detectives said in a community alert.

The robberies happened in the following locations:

  • the 2200 block of North Sawyer between 3 p.m. and 12:45 a.m. Dec. 16;
  • the 3300 block of West Belden between 3:30 p.m. and 7:40 p.m. Dec. 22;
  • the 2000 block of North Spaulding at 2 p.m. Jan. 5; and
  • the 3400 block of West Dickens at 4:40 p.m. Jan. 7.

In one case, the suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his 20s, about 5-foot-8 and 160 pounds, the alert said.

Neighbors should make sure all their doors and windows are locked, and watch for suspicious people loitering in the area, the alert said.
