Police: Man accidentally shoots himself in South Shore

A man accidentally shot himself in the leg early Wednesday in the South Shore neighborhood.

The man, 56, walked into South Shore Hospital about 3:25 a.m. with a gunshot wound to the knee, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said, citing preliminary information. He was listed in good condition.

The man initially told police he had been shot in the 7900 block of South Crandon, but it was later revealed that he had accidentally shot himself, Greer said.
