Reports: Cubs avoid arbitration, sign Doubront to 1-year deal

The Chicago Cubs avoided arbitration with left-handed pitcher Felix Doubront on Thursday, signing him to a one-year deal worth nearly $2 million, according to multiple reports.

Doubront went 2-1 with a 3.98 ERA in four starts for the Cubs last year after being traded from the Red Sox on July 30.

His performance improved in his final month in Chicago. Doubront went 2-4 with a 6.07 ERA in 17 appearances (10 starts) for Boston.
