CPD officer accidentally shoots self in leg in Englewood

A Chicago Police officer accidentally shot himself in the leg Friday evening in Englewood.

The officer was “conducting an investigation” about 6:30 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Peoria when his gun accidentally discharged, striking him in the leg, police News Affairs Officer Thomas Sweeney said.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition, Sweeney said.
