Man shot to death in South Shore

A man was shot to death Tuesday morning in the South Shore neighborhood.

Derrick McIntyre, 26, was shot in the chest in the 7800 block of South Coles about 10:10 a.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

McIntyre, who lived on the block where he was shot, was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead at 10:44 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

Police could not immediately provide details on the circumstances surrounding the shooting, but a police source said the victim was a documented gang member.
