Man dies in North Lawndale crash

A 40-year-old man died Tuesday afternoon after his vehicle hit a tree in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

The man was driving northbound in the 1500 block of South Central Park at 10 a.m. when his vehicle crashed into a tree, police said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:12 p.m., police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy performed Wednesday found he died of multiple injuries from the crash, and his death was ruled an accident.

His name was not being released Wednesday night because his family had not yet been notified.
