SHARE Thieves targeting catalytic converters in Garfield Ridge

Police are warning Garfield Ridge residents about thieves targeting catalytic converters in the Southwest Side neighborhood.

Someone cut catalytic converters off cars parked on the street between Jan. 16 and 19, according to the community alert from Area Central detectives.

The thefts happened in the 5200 block of South Parkside, the 5200 block of South Mason, the 5100 block of South Parkside, the 5100 block of South Mason and the 4900 block of South Lamon.

Police advise residents to park vehicles in well-lit areas and to report suspicious activity immediately.
