All lanes have been cleared after a crash injured two people on the inbound Stevenson Expressway (I-55) during the morning commute Thursday on the Southwest Side.

An SUV crashed into the dividing wall about 5:30 a.m. in the inbound lanes of I-55 near Western, Illinois State Police said.

At least two of the SUV’s five occupants were transported to hospitals after the crash, state police said.

One person was taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center and the other was taken to Stroger Hospital, both in fair-to-serious condition, Chicago Fire Department Cmdr. Frank Velez said.

The left lane of the expressway was temporarily closed after the crash, but it was reopened as of about 6:40 a.m., state police said.
