2 women hurt in South Side shooting

Two women were shot in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side late Friday.

The women, 20 and 21, were walking on the sidewalk in the 4400 block of South Marshfield about 10:20 p.m. when someone exited a vehicle and fired shots at them, police said. The shooter then got back in the vehicle, which drove off.

The 21-year-old was shot in the hip and taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, police said. A police source said she is a documented gang member.

The 20-year-old suffered grazed wounds to the buttocks and thumb but declined medical treatment at the scene, police said.
