Man, 19, shot in West Garfield Park

A 19-year-old man was shot Sunday afternoon in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

About 3:45 p.m., the man was inside a van in the 300 block of South Springfield when someone fired shots at the vehicle, striking the man in the neck and chest, police said.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized.

Police said a second person may have been shot but could not confirm that Sunday afternoon. That person showed up at Mount Sinai Hospital but became uncooperative and left, according to police.
