We got news of more celebrity marriages collapsing this weekend. The end of singer and actress Mandy Moore’s marriage to singer Ryan Adams, whispered about in music circles in recent weeks, became official as Adams filed for divorce. In a statement which echoed a message we’ve heard many, many, many times before, Moore’s publicist said: “Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams have mutually decided to end their marriage. It is a respectful, amicable parting of ways and both Mandy and Ryan are asking for media to respect their privacy at this time.” We all know that privacy will not be respected by much of the celebrity press.

The Moore-Adams breakup comes nearly a year after they threw a big party celebrating their fifth anniversary. Moore wrote on her Instagram page, “Celebrating love w the greatest of friends and family last night. Feeling incredibly grateful today.” That gushing comment captioned a photo of partygoers wearing 1950s outfits women showing off some funny hats.

Also last year, the duo collaborated on Adams’ self-titled album.

The couple very quietly tied the knot in 2009, about a month after announcing their engagement.

• A bigger surprise was the announcement “Grey’s Anatomy” star Patrick Dempsey and his wife, makeup artist Jillian Fink, were ending their 15-year marriage. In a statement released to People, the couple explained, “It is with careful consideration and mutual respect that we have decided to end our marriage. Our primary concern remains the wellbeing of our children, and we ask with profound gratitude that you respect our family’s privacy at this very sensitive time.”

The now-estranged couple are the parents to daughter Tallulah Fyfe, 12, and twins Patrick and Darby Galen, 7.
