Man charged with Back of the Yards shooting

A South Side man has been charged with a late September shooting that left two people wounded in the Back of Yards neighborhood.

Dasyun Catchings, 37, shot a man and woman about 1:10 a.m. Sept. 21, 2014, in the 5400 block of South Justine, according to Chicago Police. Catchings was arguing with several people and eventually left, only to come back with a gun and start shooting, according to police statements.

A 39-year-old woman was shot twice in the buttocks and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition. A 38-year-old man was shot three times in the leg and was taken to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition, police said at the time.

Catchings is charged with two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm and one count of possession of a controlled substance, police said.

Catchings, of the 5500 block of South Paulina, is scheduled to appear in bond court Thursday.
