Up to 6 inches of snow expected Saturday night, Super Bowl Sunday

Several inches of snow are expected to accumulate in the Chicago area from Saturday night through Super Bowl Sunday.

Northern and central Illinois and Indiana could see three to six inches of snow Saturday night through Sunday evening, according to a special weather statement from the National Weather Service.

A low-pressure system is expected to form over Colorado Saturday and track into the Ohio River Valley by Sunday, creating a large swath of accumulating snow across the Midwest, the weather service said.

However, meteorologists warn that the system is still developing and forecasts could change, the weather service said. Anyone planning to travel Saturday night or Sunday should check updated forecasts as the storm develops.
