Chamar Hawkins heats up, Marist handles Marian Catholic

Marist’s Chamar Hawkins is by no means assuming anything in the conference race.

There’s just too much basketball left to be played.

But leading the way in the East Suburban Catholic Conference standings with Notre Dame, the RedHawks are definitely in a good spot and believe they can close it out down the stretch.

“The conference title is a big goal, and it’s always our goal to lead conference heading into the state playoffs,” Hawkins said. “Overall, it is a team effort. We believe in what we can do, and we believe in each other.”

With a 51-42 win Friday over visiting Marian Catholic, Marist continued its hot play in the ESCC, staying undefeated in conference.
