If there’s a pitfall to having talented underclassmen, it’s that teams generally lose them to the NBA Draft.
With Ohio State freshman guard D’Angelo Russell looking every bit like a lottery pick in this summer’s draft, the Buckeyes have a spot to fill next season. They did that Friday when ESPN reported that class of 2015 top-100 guard JaQuan Lyle had committed to Ohio State.
Lyle joins a 2015 Ohio State recruiting class that was already considered amongst the top-10 in the country.
At 6-5, Lyle is long and can play both guard positions–something coach Thad Matta values. And considering the team will be losing defensive specialist Shannon Scott to graduation, Lyle could come in and have an immediate impact on the defensive end with his length.
