A man who thought he was shot early Sunday in the West Englewood neighborhood was actually injured by shattered glass, police said.

The man, thought to be in his 20s, was a passenger in a vehicle that was traveling in the 7100 block of South Damen, police said. At about 3:30 a.m., someone opened fire at the vehicle.

The man was then self-transported to Holy Cross Hospital with what he thought was a gunshot wound to his arm, police said.

Police initially said the man was shot, but were later told by doctors the man’s injuries were caused by shattered glass, according to police
