Man critically wounded in South Deering shooting

A man was shot and critically wounded in the South Deering neighborhood Tuesday night.

About 7:30 p.m., the 37-year-old was in the 9800 block of South Bensley when a male walked up and opened fire, striking him several times in the leg and torso, police said.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, police said.
