A man was shot in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side Sunday night.

A 26-year-old man was outside in the 5400 block of West Van Buren Street at 8:50 p.m. when a vehicle approached him. Someone exited the vehicle, and fired multiple shots at the man, then the shooter got back in the vehicle and drove away eastbound, police said.

The man suffered gunshot wounds to both thighs, and took himself to Loretto Hospital, where his condition was stabilized. He is expected to be transferred to Stroger Hospital, police said.
