A man who accidentally shot and killed another man dead earlier this year in the Far South Side Roseland neighborhood has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter.
Antonio Lampley, 23, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter on Oct. 6, according to Cook County court records.
Lampley shot 23-year-old Derrius Drakes in the back about 4:30 p.m. Feb. 25 in the 11300 block of South Parnell, authorities said at the time. The shooting was believed to be accidental, police said.
Drakes, of the 200 block of West 112th Street, made it to Roseland Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead less than 15 minutes later, authorities said.
Lampley, who lived on the same block as Parnell, was charged with involuntary manslaughter June 9, authorities said.
Judge James Linn sentenced Lampley to 180 days in jail and two years probation during a hearing Tuesday, according to court records. Lampley will receive credit for 160 days served in the Cook County Jail, and is scheduled to be released Nov. 29.
