[FBTW]

New seasons are usually full of promise, but things are already looking grim for Illinois, at least according to Vegas.

According to VegasInsider.com, Illinois has 220/1 odds to win the 2016 NCAA

Tournament.

That’s ninth best in the Big 10, behind Maryland (9/1), Michigan State (18/1), Indiana (40/1), Michigan (40/1), Purdue (75/1), Wisconsin (85/1), Ohio State (110/1) and Iowa (175/1).

The Illini finished last season 19-14 and lost in the first round of the NIT. Illinois has qualified for the NCAA Tournament just once since 2012.

John Groce’s squad opens the season Friday against North Florida.
