Michael Jordan jersey sells for $173K at auction—report

The Bulls jersey worn by Michael Jordan in his last regular-season home game sold at auction for $173,240, according to ESPN.com.

It’s reportedly the most paid for a Jordan collectible, surpassing the $105,000 paid for his “flu game” shoes.

From ESPN:

No one who has been out of the game fewer than fifteen years has had items sell for these kinds of prices, said Ken Goldin of Goldin Auctions, which sold the jersey and a pair of game-worn shoes from the 1996 NBA Finals for $34,160. Michael Jordan is the collectible equivalent of Babe Ruth.

In case you were wondering, Jordan played 40 minutes and scored 44 points in that game, a 111-109 victory over the Knicks on April 18, 1998.

Jordan items have become an auction staple of late, from his college diploma to his college recruitment letters.

It seems there’s nothing with Jordan’s name attached to it that won’t sell. Er, check that.
