While Rita Wilson is best known for both her acting work in such films as “It’s Complicated” and “Sleepless in Seattle” — plus her TV roles on “The Good Wife” and “Girls” — the actress’ early show business ambitions were about singing. Wilson will be showcasing that side of her talent 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 3 at City Winery Chicago.

Tickets (priced from $22–$28; plus $100 for meet and greet tickets) go on sale at noon Thursday.

Wilson, who also is well-known as being the longtime wife of Tom Hanks, has also carved out another Hollywood niche as a producer of the mega-hit films “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” and “Mamma Mia!”

In 2012 she released her “AM/FM” album of ’60s and ’70s classics to strong reviews. Now, her self-titled second album, featuring original material from Wilson’s two-week residency at New York’s famed Carlyle Cafe is due out in early 2016.
