The ascent of Chicago’s Chance the Rapper continues next month with his first appearance as a “Saturday Night Live” musical guest.

The South Sider, who last month released the free single “Angels” on iTunes, will appear on the Dec. 12 episode hosted by Chris Hemsworth of the upcoming “In the Heart of the Sea.”

It’s one of three new “SNL” episodes planned for the last month of 2015. Ryan Gosling of the upcoming film “The Big Short” will make his hosting debut Dec. 5 with musical guest Leon Bridges, and “SNL” alumna Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will co-host on Dec. 19, the day after their movie “Sisters” comes out. Their musical guest will be Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
