Vince Staples is a rapper from Long Beach, Calif., that has garnered quite a bit of attention for a 22-year-old.

The rapper has more than 210,000 followers on Twitter, so when he speaks there is a large audience listening. On Twitter, Staples referenced a story fellow rapper Chamillionaire told a handful of years ago to defend Staples’ own comments recently made to GQ.

Staples’ comments transcribed by Complex:

While he expressed his opinion in a somewhat joking manner, he did go as far as comparing him to Donald Trump. “Michael Jordan’s such a scumbag. I love him. Michael Jordan and Donald Trump are the same kind of person. Michael Jordan, Donald Trump, they are the epitome of bad people in America becoming successful,” he said. He didn’t go into details about why felt that way, but it could be about Jordan’s perceived greediness and the violence that surrounds his sneakers, which wouldn’t be the first time he was called out for that.
