A 17-year-old boy was shot Tuesday in the South Side neighborhood of Auburn Gresham.

The boy told investigators he was outside in the 8600 block of South Morgan at 8:25 p.m. when he heard shots and felt pain, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

A police source said the boy is a documented gang member and his gunshot wound might have been self-inflicted.
