Charles Barkley: ‘Social media is where losers go to feel important’

SHARE Charles Barkley: ‘Social media is where losers go to feel important’

Charles Barkley doesn’t do social media. The last time he posted anything was 15 years ago while wearing a Rockets uniform.

The TNT analyst appeared Thursday on ESPN’s “Mike & Mike,” where at some point the discussion turned to fans being mean to sports figures.

Mike Greenberg brought up two instances of ridicule that were directed at the children of Indiana basketball coach Tom Crean.

Barkley, as he always does, spoke his mind:

“I’m disgusted by those two incidents you’ve given me,” Barkley said. “Kids should be off limits one hundred percent. You know, I don’t do any internet. I do zero social media because I think that’s where losers go to feel important. On TNT, we’ve talked about it, and I’ll never do any social media for that fact. That’s where losers go to feel important and significant.

“People are crazy, Mike. People are just mean-spirited now. You know, it’s kind of like the mafia. Even the mafia says don’t mess with the wives and the kids. That’s just ridiculous.”
