Man meeting online date gets stabbed and robbed in Elgin

A man planning to meet someone he met on an online dating service instead was robbed and stabbed early Thursday in northwest suburban Elgin.

The 37-year-old victim and a person he met online had arranged to meet in an apartment complex parking lot in the 1200 block of Fleetwood Drive about 1:30 a.m., according to Elgin police.

When he arrived, he was robbed and stabbed by multiple suspects, police said.

He suffered multiple stab wounds to his upper torso and was taken to Presence Saint Joseph’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The suspects have not been found.
