A southwest suburban man was shot and killed Sunday morning in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The shooting happened in the 4100 block of West 31st Street at 8:35 a.m., according to Chicago Police.

Eric T. Jones, 23, was walking down the street when a male with a weapon fired shots in his direction, then took off in a red SUV, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Jones, of the 0-100 block of Hickory Trace Drive in Justice, was shot in the chest and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:33 a.m., authorities said.

A police source said Jones was a convicted felon and documented gang member.
