Lane closings planned in Elk Grove Village for I-90 work

Overnight lane closures are scheduled to begin Saturday on local roads in northwest suburban Elk Grove Village as construction continues on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway.

The closures are necessary to accommodate work to rebuild the bridges carrying I-90 over Arlington Heights Road and Oakton Street, according to a statement from the Illinois Tollway.

One lane in each direction will close on Arlington Heights Road at 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with intermittent full road closures lasting 15 minutes each scheduled between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., the tollway said. All lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. Sunday and Monday ahead of the morning rush hour.

Similar closure schedules will be in effect on Oakton Sunday and Monday nights, according to the tollway.

In addition to these closures, Higgins Road in Rosemont has been restored to two lanes in both directions under I-90 for the winter months, the tollway said.

The closures are all part of a project to widen and rebuild I-90 between the Elgin Toll Plaza and the Tri-State Tollway, according to the statement. The project is expected to be complete in 2016.
