A man was shot and critically wounded Sunday evening in Austin on the West Side.

He was sitting in a vehicle parked in the 5400 block of West Race about 7:35 p.m. when someone walked up and started shooting, according to Chicago Police.

The man, thought to be in his mid-30s, was shot repeatedly and taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.
