In his eight-year NFL career, Joe Flacco has never missed a game. The Ravens quarterback will miss his 123rd start next week.
In the waning moments of the Ravens’ 16-13 victory over the Rams, Flacco sustained a season-ending injury when his own lineman fell on his left knee. Despite tearing his ACL, Flacco finished out the last four plays.
The injury sent the Ravens looking for another quarterback to go with new starter Matt Schaub and backup Sam Koch.
The Ravens offensive coordinator is Marc Trestman, who is quite familiar with Bears’ reserves Jimmy Clausen and David Fales.
When the Bears waived Clausen on Monday, several NFL insiders surmised the Ravens were possibly looking to snag Fales from the Bears’ practice squad.

On Monday, Bears coach John Fox said a team had inquired about Fales, forcing the Bears to elevate the second-year quarterback from the practice squad to the 53-man roster in order to retain him.
Clausen was less than impressive in his two starts this season—both blowout losses—filling in for Jay Cutler. Clausen’s combined numbers were 23-for-40 for 184 yards, one interception, no touchdowns and a passer rating of 58.7.
