Alexander Scott, 31, was found guilty of first-degree murder on Feb. 12 after a bench trial before Judge Charles Burns, according to Cook County court records.

Scott confronted 25-year-old Eric Woods at Woods’ home in the 900 block of South Springfield Avenue and shot him in the chest on Feb. 27, 2014, authorities said at the time. Woods died at 5:02 p.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital.
