Hard-throwing right-hander Tommy Kahnle owns a 4.41 ERA over 102 innings in two major league seasons with the Rockies.

The White Sox acquired right-hander Tommy Kahnle from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for minor-league right-hander Yency Almonte Tuesday.

Kahnle, 26, was 0-1 with a 4.86 ERA, two saves and 39 strikeouts and 28 walks (one intentional) over 33 1/3 innings for Colorado in 2015. He averaged 10.5 strikeouts per nine innings and limited right-handed hitters to a .203 average. In 21 relief appearances with AAA Albuquerque, Kahnle pitched to a 4.67 ERA with six saves and 28 strikeouts over 27 innings.

Kahnle possesses a 95-mph fastball but has averaged 5.2 walks per nine innings to go with 9.0 strikeouts per nine and a 4.41 ERA over 102 innings in two seasons with the Rockies.

Kahnle was selected by Colorado from the Yankees in the 2013 Rule 5 Draft.

Almonte, 21, made 24 appearances between Class A Kannapolis and Class A Winston-Salem last season, posting an 11-7 record with a 3.41 ERA. He was the player to be named in the Feb. 4, 2015 trade with the Angels for Gordon Beckham.

The Sox 40-man roster is at 37.
