A 19-year-old man was shot Wednesday in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The teen was in the 2800 block of North Austin Avenue when he was shot in the back about 12:30 p.m., according to Chicago Police. He tried to drive to the hospital, but stopped at West Fullerton and North Central Park.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police said.
