Man shot to death in West Ridge

A Thanksgiving Day shooting left one man dead in the West Ridge neighborhood on the North Side.

Jontaye Walker, 23, was standing outside in the 2200 block of West Thome Avenue about 1:15 p.m. when someone exited a vehicle nearby, walked up and opened fire, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Police said the shooter then jumped into a dark green minivan, which sped away northbound.

Walker, of the 6200 block of North Bell Avenue, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body and was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:29 p.m., authorities said.
