A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot early Saturday in Gary.

About 12:10 a.m., police responded to a call of shots fired in the 3900 block of West 21st Avenue and found the teen with a gunshot wound to the back, police said.

Tiyrek Foxx, of the 800 block of King Street in Gary, was taken to St. Margaret’s Hospital in Hammond, where he was pronounced dead at 12:45 a.m., according to the Lake County coroner’s office.

No additional details were immediately available.
