Woman fatally shot, another wounded in Gary

A woman was killed and another was wounded in a shooting Saturday night in Gary, Indiana.

Officers responded to the 900 block of East 19th Avenue at 11:55 p.m. and found a woman had been shot and driven to Methodist Hospital-Northlake, according to Gary police. A second female was also shot, but her injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

The woman, identified as 25-year-old Mynisha Brown of the 2200 block of Harrison Street in Gary, was pronounced dead at the hospital at 12:20 a.m. Sunday, according to the Lake County coroner’s office.

Additional information was not immediately available. Gary police are investigating.
