Two people were killed and at least nine others were wounded in shootings Tuesday across Chicago.
About 6:15 p.m., a man was shot to death in the Gage Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.
The 24-year-old was outside in the 5600 block of South Artesian when two males walked up and shot him in the head, neck, torso and leg, police said. The two then ran west on 56th Street.
The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Earlier Tuesday afternoon, another 24-year-old man was killed in a North Lawndale neighborhood shooting on the West Side.
He was arguing with another male in the 3200 block of West 15thStreet about 1 p.m., when the other male shot him in the head, police said.
The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm either fatality Tuesday night.
Most recently, a man was shot in the Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side. About 8:55 p.m., the 27-year-old was talking in an alley with a group of other people in the 1500 block of West Jonquil Terrace when a male walked up and opened fire, police said. Then shooter then ran away. The man was shot in the ankle and was taken to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
About 10 minutes earlier, a man and a teenage boy were injured in a drive-by shooting in the South Side Jeffery Manor neighborhood.
The 20-year-old man was sitting in the back of a parked Jeep with some friends in the 9600 block of South Brennan about 8:45 p.m. when someone from a passing Chevrolet Impala opened fire, hitting him in the right thigh, police said. The driver of the Jeep tried to drive away and the Jeep hit a tree in the same block. The man who was shot then walked to the 9700 block of South Van Vlissingen Road and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition stabilized.
A 16-year-old boy was walking by on the sidewalk in the 9600 block of South Brennan at the time of the shooting when he heard shots and felt pain, police said. A family member took him to Advocate Trinity Hospital, and he was transferred to the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital and then to Stroger Hospital, according to police. He was shot in the back and left hip and his condition was stabilized.
A police source said the man and boy are both documented gang members.
About 7:55 p.m. in the Longwood Manor neighborhood, a 34-year-old was shot in the right shoulder and buttocks during an armed robbery in the 1200 block of West 96th Place, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized.
About 5:30 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in the South Chicago neighborhood. He was walking northbound in the 8600 block of South Exchange when a dark-colored SUV pulled up and someone inside shot him in the buttocks, police said. The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition had stabilized.
About 20 minutes earlier, two people were shot in the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood. A 22-year-old man and a female, whose age was not known, were shot about 5:10 p.m. in the 700 block of East 62nd Street, police said. The female was shot in the back and also suffered a graze wound to her head, police said. She was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.The man was shot in the left hand and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition stabilized.
About 11 a.m., two people were shot near Madison and Springfield in the West Garfield Park neighborhood. An 18-year-old man was shot in the chest and was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, according to police.A 16-year-old girlsuffered a graze wound and was not hospitalized.
