Man critically wounded in Greater Grand Crossing drive-by shooting

A man was injured in a drive-by shooting Thursday afternoon in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side.

The 37-year-old was standing outside about 1:30 p.m. in the 600 block of East 79th Street when a vehicle approached and someone inside opened fire, striking him in the leg, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Chicago Fire Department Cmdr. Walter Schroeder said.
