A bicyclist was killed in a crash Sunday night in west suburban Oak Brook.

The crash happened at the intersection of Route 83 and 16th Street near Oakbrook Center mall just before 6 p.m., according to a statement from Oak Brook police.

Pedro Jimenez, 43, of Lombard, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police and the DuPage County coroner’s office.

Police said the cyclist disobeyed a red light and was struck by a vehicle, according to initial driver and witness statements.

The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 50s from Westmont, was not injured and was taken to the police department, where he provided a statement and was released.

The Felony Investigative Assistance Team is investigating the crash.
