Man shot in the head in Woodlawn

A man was seriously wounded in a Woodlawn neighborhood shooting on the South Side Monday evening.

The 40-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 6200 block of South Vernon Avenue at 6:52 p.m. when two men approached from a gang way and shot at the man, police said.

The man suffered a gunshot wound to the head, and was taken to Northwestern Hospital in serious condition.
