A man caught by Chicago Police with money sticking out of his pockets just minutes after a North Side bank was robbed Tuesday morning is now facing federal charges, according to the FBI.
Larry Dollar, 43, faces one felony count of bank robbery, according to a statement from the FBI.
Dollar entered the MB Financial Bank at 3940 N. Damen Ave. about 10:15 a.m. and took a cup of coffee, according to the criminal complaint. A few minutes later, he returned and approached a teller.
The teller asked if she could help him, and he said, “Give me $10,000. I have a gun. Don’t move. Give me $10,000,” according to the complaint.
The teller gave him an unknown amount of cash from her drawer, and he started walking toward the door before he paused and said, “I’m taking this money and putting it in my pocket. Don’t f—— move and call your mothers.”
He left and headed southbound on Damen, according to the FBI.
Another teller activated a silent alarm and called 911, according to the complaint. The 911 operator broadcast a flash message, and two officers spotted a man matching the suspect’s description about two blocks from the bank.
The officers saw cash wrapped in a money wrapper sticking out of his pants pocket and arrested him, according to the complaint.
In all, he had $1,960 in cash, including five bait bills, according to the complaint.
Dollar appeared in court Wednesday morning and Judge Mary Rowland ordered him held pending his next court appearance, scheduled for March 17.
